Bullring Blitz: Brandon, SD—July 1, 2009—For the last couple of years, Joey Saldana has been a master of the big, fast half-mile tracks that the World of Outlaws visit. This season he and his team are showing their versatility by winning a number of times on short tracks, those 3/8-mile and shorter. Of his 11 wins this season, seven have come on short tracks. This weekend he'll have a chance to compete twice more on high-banked bullrings, as the World of Outlaws open the Independence Day weekend on Friday, July 3 at Huset's Speedway in South Dakota, followed by a stop at Eagle Raceway in Nebraska on Saturday, July 4. He was victorious last weekend on a tight, high-banked short track at U.S. 36 Raceway in Missouri. “We've been pretty good on the short tracks this year,” said Saldana. “Hopefully we can continue that at Sioux Falls (Huset's Speedway) and Eagle (Raceway). If we can continue to improve on our qualifying positions, then we'll put ourselves in a position to win. That's what you need to do out here is be in a position to win each night.” |

THUNDER ON THE HILL BEATS MOTHER NATURE, , DUANE HOWARD TOPS MODIFIED FIELD AT GRANDVIEW TUESDAY
BECHTELSVILLE, PA . . . . . . . .It was a night of many winners, especially for the big crowd of race fans who braved the bad weather conditions that hovered around the Grandview Speedway on Tuesday evening. Despite rain, hail and severe thunder storms, the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series presented by Lee Myles Transmissions and Auto Care beat all the odds and completed the scheduled Pennsylvania Sprint Speed Week Series and 358 Modified Double header program. The show started on time with time trials, six heat races and two consolations completed well before 9 PM. But then the rain began to fall forcing a one hour delay. Never-the-less, the show was completed at 11:32 PM with Chad Kemenah of Finley, Ohio pocketing the $5,000 winner's share for the 35 lap sprint feature as Duane Howard won the night cap, the twenty-five lap 358 Modified feature. Three qualifying heat race events were presented with victories going to Adam Wilt, Justin Henderson and Alan Krimes as Mike Erdley won the "B" Main. The 358 Modifieds went to battle in three heat races as well with victories going to Jeff Strunk, Rick Laubach and Billy Pauch Jr. with John Willman winning the consolation.

Camargo, IL (6-29-09) –By Kelly Brown – All Star Public Relations Director – What would the Fourth of July be without fireworks? This weekend the O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions will be bring their unique type of fireworks, with speeds as quick as bottle rockets zooming into the sky and metal glimmering under the lights like sparklers, to K-C Raceway on Friday night July 3rd, before celebrating Independence Day on Saturday night July 4th, at the Terre Haute Action Track. K-C Raceway – Friday Night July 3rd K-C Raceway has been a staple on the O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions schedule since 1985 and they have been racing there ever since. This weekend will be the 16th annual “The Night the Stars come out.” Unfortunately, last year’s event was cancelled due to rain, so the last time the All Stars raced at K-C Raceway was in 2007. The lightning fast 3/8 mile bullring in the hills of Southern Ohio saw fast and furious action as Greg Wilson and Danny Smith battled for the win. At the end of the A main, it was Smith, who now calls the Chillicothe, Ohio track his home, emerging as the victor from his fourth place starting spot. Smith has two victories at the 3/8 track and 24 top-five finishes. |

By Laura Cornman BEDFORD, PA – A high-speed evening of racing was on hand Sunday as the Pennsylvania Posse 410 sprint cars invaded the speedway for the first time in over twenty years. The super late model division and the cruiser hobby stock division were also on the schedule. A sum of 56 cars filled the pit area; twenty eight 410sprints, eighteen super late models, and ten cruiser hobby stocks. Sunday was another record-breaking night. Stevie Smith shattered the Bedford Speedway 410sprint car record of 16.647. The new record to beat is 15.597. Spectators witnessed speeds well over 130 miles per hour. Winners of the 410sprint heat races were Adam Wilt, Keith Kauffman, and Justin Henderson. The Bedford Valley Petroleum super late models ran two heats; Jeff Rhine and DJ Troutman were victorious.
Dave Ely's great qualifying effort ended early Sunday evening at Bedford. (PA Posse Photo) Ed Lynch Jr. led the field of twenty three sprints to the cone. Chad Kemenah quickly took command going into turn one and began distancing himself from the rest of the field. Chad Layton moved into the second place, lynch trailed him. Within six laps Kemenah was faced with lap traffic. Karl Baker rolled and landed on his wheels between turns one and two, bringing out a closed red flag. Kemenah brought the field back to full power and blasted off the restart. Layton followed his lead while Greg Hodnett tagged behind. Stevie Smith made his way into the third position and looked to make a move on Layton. Smith and Layton battled frivolously for the second place spot. Layton began closing ground on Lynch. The rest of the field battled for their positions. Again, Lynch was faced with lap traffic. Despite the lap traffic, a battle for the lead began. Stevie Smith pulled off a pass against Lynch coming off of turn four with eleven laps to go. Smith took full command as he began separating himself from the rest of the field. Kemenah occupied the second position while Layton followed. Smith’s position was solidified as he drove his black and white number one into victory lane. |

Hello and welcome once again to the weekend re-cap with an attitude, Central PA Racing Scene. What a weekend we saw here in the area. Youth was served on our local race tracks Friday and Saturday night. We saw the second female 358 winner (I think), not to mention 3 first time winners, 2 on Friday night. We had 1 driver clean house at Williams Grove, only to see the top 2 not change at all in both races. We also saw the start of the busiest week in Central Pa with Speed week starting at Lincoln Speedway with a familiar looking car in victory lane as a tribute to the late Kevin Gobrecht, and my first trip to Bedford last night for night 2 of speed week. Young guns were grabbing the headlines this weekend all over Central PA (PA Posse Photo)
First things first here are the updated Central PA Racing Scene 358 points presented by Delco Signs. Before we get to the run down, I wanted to let you all know that we are working on more prizes for the race teams, and I should have some more prizes to announce here in the next week or two. Now here is the entire run down of the points chase.
1. Blane Heimbach 360 pts (1 win) 2. Billy Dietrich 291 pts 3. Nate Snyder 284 pts 4. Dale Hammaker 281 pts (1 win) 5. Tim Wagaman 259 pts 6. Jeff Rohrbaugh 255 pts (3 wins) 7. Kyle Moody 229 pts (2 wins) 8. Pat Cannon 219 pts (3 wins) 9. Phil Walter 209 pts 10.Scott Geesey 205 pts |

With six Rislone URC Sprint Series events in the books for 2009, JJ Grasso, the "Jersey Jet" of Pedricktown, NJ has three wins is six starts and he's looking forward to Saturday night when he returns to the New Egypt Speedway, a track where he won four out of five events in 2008. Grasso now leads the URC point chase, but the season is long and we still haven't seen the best of six time champion Curt Michael and the Valley Forge INC sprint car.
Other title contenders include Chris Coyle Davey Sammons, Michael Carber, Robbie Stillwaggon and Becca Anderson. All still in the chase with a long season still ahead.
