BLOOMINGTON, Ind. ? Oct. 13, 2013? The recipe for success at the sprawling five-eighths-mile Rolling Wheels Raceway Park in Elbridge, N.Y., requires pure speed and also some track position. Kraig Kinser was able to combine the two on Saturday, Oct. 12, as he finished fifth in the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series event that accompanied the Super Dirt Week XLII festivities.
For Kinser, who hails from Bloomington, Ind., the fifth-place effort was the third top-five showing of his career at Rolling Wheels, which is one of the two largest venues on the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series circuit. He has finished among the top-10 in three of the last four fall races for the series at the track.

Capital Region Sprint Agency, VSS ? Virginia Sprint Series and TSRS ? Tri State RaceSavers. It was Jake Waters of nearby Mifflintown who turned in a solid performance to win the 25-lap Blue Collar Classic RaceSaver laurels, taking bragging rights in the event a year after earning a podium finish in the inaugural race. The win was a first-ever for Waters anywhere in 305 sprint competition.
ABBOTTSTOWN: Brian Montieth thought he didn't have much of a chance of winning Saturday's Sprint Car feature.
Not with Lance Dewease and Fred Rahmer, winner of last week's National Open, starting in front of him. That might have been the case if the Kenny Weld Memorial would have been contested at Williams Grove or Port Royal Speedway. But at Lincoln, Montieth has been the man to beat throughout the 2013 season.
Officials could have started Dewease and Rahmer a straightaway ahead of Montieth and it wouldn't have mattered. The Phoenixville driver was so good over the 40-lap distance, that he was ahead by half a track at the finish. Montieth banked $5,000 plus lap money for the victory.
"I pretty much figured if Dewease got out front there, it was game over," Montieth said. "Rahmer is good on the bottom, and it seems those guys are always on my bumper, so I had to keep pushing.
"I couldn't have asked for a better race car. I could go to the middle, the top, really anywhere I wanted."

Brian Montieth came from eighth starting spot to become the fourth different leader on the 14th lap, and drove away to his sixth Lincoln win of the year and 40th of his Lincoln career in the 40-lap Kenny Weld Memorial Saturday evening.
